William Raymond Ross (son of William Bryson Ross and Emma Dale) was born July 18, 1897 in Dewittville, Quebec, Canada. He enlisted on June 16, 1916 in the Fifth Pioneer Battalion as private No. 1078292. He sailed for Liverpool, England on November 27, 1916, went into camp at Bramshot, Sussex in February 1917, left for France on June 22, 1917 being attached to the Fifth Army Troop, Company Y. He left France on March 4, 1919 for Seaford, Camp, England and left by way of Liverpool for Montreal on April 17, 1919. He received his discharge in Montreal on April 25, 1919.
