Packing Light/Traditional for Philmont

My third Philmont trek was cut short due to an emergency surgery, so I am taking some of my down time to document my Philmont pack. It weighs in at just under 40-lbs with full food, water, and crew gear and the weight with personal gear only is just over 20 lbs.

My philosophy is to “pack to The List” but keep it as light as possible. I aim for a compromise between a 60-lb Stupid Heavy pack and a 20-lb Stupid Light pack. The pack isn’t heavy but it isn’t light, its just stupid – like a fox.

I hope that the information in this post can help other trekkers pack like a fox. Links to some other packing lists are below.
