Carbocation
Cation containing an even number of electrons with the excess positive charge formally located on a carbon atom. This is a general term embracing carbenium ions, carbonium ions, and cations derived from corresponding carbon-centred free radicals by removal of the unpaired electron. Note: Such carbocations may be named by adding the word cation to the name of the corresponding radical, but such names do not imply structure (e.g., whether three- or five- coordinated carbon atoms are present).
