RSS Monkey for Newsfeeds

RSS Monkey is a server-run script that allows RSS newsfeeds to be displayed as part of a webpage. For example, the newsfeed contents of this page can be displayed, or included in another page using the script below (feel free to cut and paste it onto your own page):

Combined with Hubmed‘s ability to generate RSS feeds from scientific journal citations, this means that titles and/or abstracts can be extracted and placed on any webpage.

HubMed, a New PubMed/MEDLINE Interface

The HubMed website is an alternative PubMed MEDLINE interface. There are numerous useful and unique features, including and RSS newsfeed that can be read by newsreader software such as NewzCrawler (Windows), NetNewsWire Pro (OS X) or Amphetadesk (cross-platform). The feed is updated daily, so you can read the latest MS abstracts every morning along with CNN and the New York Times. Another feature that is fun to play with is the citation occurrence plot, as shown below for a search using the word ‘electrospray.’ The plot shows the total yearly occurrences of that word in MEDLINE citations.
