Connotea Scientific Social Bookmarks
Connotea is a del.icio.us-like social bookmarking site for scientists created by the Nature Publishing Group. As of today, there are only a few bookmarks for the tag Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics, but I’m sure that will change as the site grows. (via tagsonomy.com)
Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics in Cancer Research
The article Proteomics in Cancer Research is available on-line and has a nice basic mass spectrometry tutorial. Update: Article no longer available.
New Blog Template Style
A new template has been added (a new style under the old content). It’s the same content, but it should be easier to navigate.
PubMed RSS Feeds Suffer from Link Rot
NIH/NLM recently introduced RSS feeds based on Pubmed searches. Unfortunately, the feeds do not automatically update, rendering them fairly useless for many applications.
MacDevCenter.com: Systems Biology
An article on the O’Reilly Network. A year old now, but worth reading.

ECD/ETD Conference
The Third International UPPSALA Conference on Electron Capture and Transfer Dissociation in Mass Spectrometry will be held December 6-9, 2005, in Snoqualmie, Washington.
Pubmed RSS Feed
The RSS feed feature is now live at Pubmed. As an example, here is a raw RSS feed for mass spectrometry and the same feed rendered in an html page. To generate a feed from a Pubmed search result page, select “RSS Feed” from the “Send to” dropdown menu (via Nodalpoint).
MALDI Mass Spectrometry Imaging Interest Group
The MALDI MSI IG site has information on matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometric imaging, including software, links and a forum.

Accelerator Mass Spectrometry Dates Settlement
Eva Wild and colleagues at the University of Vienna have used accelerator mass spectrometry radiocarbon dating on tooth samples from the Czech Republic to show that the remains are more than 30,000 years old and indicating that the settlement is the earliest of modern humans in Europe.

ABI Outpolls Competition
Applied Biosystems/MDS Sciex came out on top of other manufacturers in a survey of mass spectrometer buyers. For $3600, you can get the details of the report.
MS Terms and Definitions Workshop at ASMS
Self-referential (but important) lift from STMS: I am organizing a workshop at the ASMS Meeting in San Antonio on Tuesday June 7 from 5:30 to 7:00. The topic is revising the standard terms and definitions related to mass spectrometry. The main item that I will be presenting is a draft list of revised terms that …

del.icio.us Tag for Mass Sectrometry
There is now a “mass spectrometry” tag at the del.icio.us “social bookmarks” site. Since a del.icio.us tag can only be a single word, the tag is “mass_spectrometry“. Using the del.icio.us site, anyone can tag a web page with any number of tags. The tags can be sorted in various ways and displayed as web pages …
Scientific Weblog Breakout?
Greg Tyrelle at Nodalpoint notes the rise of the academic science weblog. Notable outbound links are the Pharyngula science blog and a Village Voice article on academic weblogs in general.
