  1. Very cool. Extending the idea, it would seem very possible to sample directly from the sewer system rather than at the treatment plants to get more localized information – which neighborhoods have heavy usage.

    Some question of who would want the information, though. For the police it wouldn’t be specific enough (and might be obvious anyways), and for the local governments, do they really want to be made to look bad by publishing how much drug use is really going on?
