My great great grandfather Elisha Vose, Jr. was born March 7, 1841 in Robinston Maine near the Canadian Border. He enlisted as a private in the 1st Maine Cavalry Regiment in October 1861 and mustered into Company D in Augusta. The Company moved to Washington DC the following spring and was assigned to the 5th Army Corps. Elisha was wounded on July 20, 1863 during the pursuit of Lee following Gettysburg and at Cold Harbor on June 15, 1864, both requiring hospitalization. He mustered out on June 5, 1865. After the war he moved to Minnesota where my great grandmother Genevieve was born.
