Clifford & District Historical Society – Welcome: “Minto: Mrs. Samuel Ruller
Alice Jane Hargrave, widow of the late Samuel Ruller passed away at the residence of her daughter: Mrs. James Pike, concession 5 on January 18,1946in her 95th year.
Born in Axbridge, Reach Township, on April 29, 1851, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Martha Hargrave, who later came to Howick Township where she married Samuel Ruller on December 30, 1867.
The Rulllers lived for many years on different farms in Minto before moving to Listowel.
Left to mourn are: William Ruller of Fergus, and five daughters:
Martha (Mrs. William White) of North Bay; Harriet (Mrs. W. Pike) of Swift Current, SK.; Florence (Mrs. David Pike) of Minto Township; Mary (Mrs. James Pike) of Minto; Maude (Mrs. Harris Lake) of Toronto.
Three sons and two daughters predeceased her namely, Andrew, Amos, and Erastus, Minerva and Grace.
She is survived by eighty-eight descendents- one son, five daughters, thirty grandchildren, forty-nine great-grandchildren and three great, great, grandchild. She was a Baptist in religion.
Interment was in the Salem Cemetery. Second line, Minto.”
