I’ve been keeper of the flame for the 1970s text game TREK73 for the past several decades after playing it at the Lawrence Hall of Science in Berkeley in the 70s, finding a copy of the Basic program in stack of papers in the attic of Bowles Hall in the 80s, and creating an homage web page in the 90s (where you can find out about the history of the program). Not many people remember TREK73 and fewer than that download the DOS or C/Curses versions and try to play them, so I was surprised to find a review of TREK73 this month at Space Game Junkie. And an unfavorable one at that. It looks like I need to provide some basic TREK73 strategy for posterity.
