DRAFT DEFINITION |
Magnetic deflection |
---|
The deflection of charged particles in a magnetic field due to a force equal to qv × B where q is the particle charge, v its velocity and B the magnetic field. Magnetic deflection of an ion beam is used for m/z separation in a magnetic sector mass spectrometer. |
Considered between 2004 and 2006 but not included in the 2006 PAC submission |
This is an unofficial draft definition presented for information and comment. |
