His sister Jennie was my great grandmother and his father was Alva Levi Fitch (my great great grandfather) a Civil War veteran who served in the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/14th_Ohio_Battery\">14th Ohio Battery<\/a> of light artillery in the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Army_of_the_Tennessee\">Army of the Tennessee<\/a>. William got his middle name from his father&#8217;s commanding general; I got mine from my great grandfather Claude King, Jennie&#8217;s husband. To my grandmother, W. T. Fitch was &#8220;Uncle B&#8221; (he was also uncle to <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Alva_R._Fitch\">Alva Revista Fitch<\/a>). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>W. T. Fitch moved West to <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Fort_Bragg,_California\">Fort Bragg, California<\/a> in the 1890s and was a photographer. In addition to <a href=\"http:\/\/mendocinohistory.pastperfect-online.com\/35118cgi\/mweb.exe?request=jump;dtype=d;startat=2\">studio portraits<\/a>, he photographed Mendicino County landscapes and the lumber industry. His photographs and essays appeared in <a href=\"http:\/\/archive.org\/details\/northerncrown00reedrich\"><em>The Northern Crown<\/em><\/a> magazine and he advertised as &#8220;Fitch, The Photo Man.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"http:\/\/kermitmurray.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/WTFitch-PuddingCreek1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"731\" src=\"http:\/\/kermitmurray.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/WTFitch-PuddingCreek1.jpg\" alt=\"W.
